The hotel's pool FAQ says the outdoor water is heated and the pool is available to hotel guests around the clock. This is an adults-and-teens stay: guests must be 16 or older.

The room can change the view you wake to. An Alfama Standard Room is 17–22 m² and faces the hotel's patio. The 18–20 m² Terrace Room exchanges a little interior space for its own seated outdoor deck and Alfama/river outlook. A Mansard Room sits beneath the eaves, measures 17–19 m², and lacks a direct view. Those distinctions come from the hotel's room descriptions, not a generic promise that every bedroom overlooks the river.

Choose Memmo Alfama for a couple or older teens who want to stay inside the old quarter and value a terrace view more than pool length. Choose the Terrace category if the private outdoor space is part of the reason for booking. For a child under 16 or a two-bedroom family room, look elsewhere in this guide.

Torel Palace gives you two outdoor settings: a Terrace Pool and a Garden Pool. That distinction is useful if a pool is more than a photo stop. The hotel spreads its accommodation across historic palace buildings, with individually styled rooms and apartments, so the experience depends on the named category and building rather than a single uniform room image.

Rua Câmara Pestana 45 puts Torel high above the busier streets. The height earns the outlook and a more removed feeling after a day in Baixa, but also changes how you approach the door with luggage or tired legs. The hotel's stay catalogue presents palace rooms, suites and apartments; compare the actual category before choosing it for a longer stay or a family group.

Choose Torel when palace architecture and time by a pool both matter. Its two pool areas add real variety, unlike two photos of the same plunge pool. If step-free, shortest-route access is the deciding factor, a flatter address on Avenida da Liberdade will be easier to evaluate.

The Palácio's garden is unusually substantial for central Lisbon: lawn, terrace and an infinity-style pool that the hotel says is large enough for an actual swim. Solar panels heat the pool. Its pink mansion and greenery make this a stay built around slow hours on site, rather than a small rooftop dip squeezed between outings. The hotel welcomes guests aged 16 and over.

Its Signature Garden rooms are 35–40 m² and either open toward or look over the garden. Dream Garden rooms are 35–45 m², with garden outlooks and a room in this category described as accessible. These are more generous rooms than Memmo Alfama's compact categories; direct garden access is category- and room-dependent, so book the exact version that matters to you.

Choose this Palácio when garden space and a longer swim outweigh proximity to Alfama's lanes. It is especially suited to a slower couple's stay with afternoons deliberately left free. Families with younger children need a different property because of the 16+ policy.

At Memmo Príncipe Real, the heated outdoor pool faces Lisbon's skyline and is reserved for hotel guests. The pool is open around the clock according to the hotel's current FAQ. This is a terrace-centred stay in the neighbourhood rather than a garden estate, and its outlook is across the city, not the Tagus: the hotel explicitly says it has no river-view rooms.

Here, the booking choice is unusually clear. A Superior City View Room is 26 m². A Superior Terrace City View Room is 25 m² plus its own terrace with two loungers. The Superior Two Bedroom is 45 m² with two bathrooms and a balcony with a partial city view. Those official room categories mean two travellers can prioritise a private outdoor corner, while a small group can keep two bedrooms under one reservation.

Choose Memmo for a polished Príncipe Real base when the skyline and room layout are the main attractions. If you imagined lawns or long swimming lengths, the Palácio's garden pool answers that need more directly. If you imagined waking to river water outside the window, choose an Alfama or Santa Catarina room category with that documented outlook instead.

Hotel Hotel sets its outdoor pool in a green courtyard, away from the broad shopping avenue. The hotel says the pool is heated in winter, a useful distinction from properties that merely list an outdoor pool. Its interiors favour commissioned art and bold shapes, so the mood is markedly different from the former palaces elsewhere in this guide.

The Small room is 16–21 m² with a queen bed: a practical short-stay choice, but little spare floor space if you unpack heavily. A Terrace room is 18–22 m² indoors and has a 13–27 m² private outdoor terrace with seats and loungers. The latter makes more sense for someone planning a pool-side afternoon and a quiet hour outdoors, rather than using the hotel solely for sleep.

Choose it for contemporary design and a central base with an outdoor pool. The pool and room terrace are separate amenities; a Terrace room buys your own outdoor space, not a private pool. If period architecture is the draw, compare Valverde or one of the palaces instead.

Valverde's entrance is on Avenida da Liberdade, but the hotel patio holds the real retreat: planting, seating and a heated outdoor pool with water jets. This is a place for a short dip between city outings rather than swimming laps. It offers a quieter visual setting than the avenue-facing rooms may suggest.

On the current rooms page, a Classic Room is 25–30 m² and may face the patio or Rua de São José. The roughly 28 m² Classic Garden Room is in the newer part of the hotel and has a courtyard balcony. Check the room name before paying: a Classic room does not automatically carry the garden-facing outdoor space shown in the hotel's images.

Choose Valverde when you want an understated Avenida address and a planted courtyard behind it. Hotel Hotel offers a stronger art-led look and a private-terrace category; Valverde offers a more residential room and patio mood. For a pool that anchors whole afternoons, Palácio Príncipe Real gives you more garden area.

Heritage Avenida Liberdade brings a different pool choice to this list: a petite indoor fitness pool on the lower level of a 42-room historic boutique hotel. Its guest FAQ says the hotel aims to keep the water at 28°C and asks guests to contact the front desk before using it. This is the choice for a swim indoors, not a sun terrace or a spa circuit.

The room names carry useful size differences. A Baixa Room is 16 m², a Lisboa Room 20 m², and a Heritage Room 25 m² on an upper floor facing either Avenida da Liberdade or Torel Belvedere. The Junior Suite Avenida adds a sitting area within 39 m² and faces the avenue. These are current hotel categories, so the compact Baixa should not be mistaken for the roomier suite shown in another photograph.

Choose Heritage if an indoor pool matters more than Lisbon sunshine by a courtyard. It also suits a short central stay when you would use the avenue as your base. For a planted outdoor pool on the same boulevard, Valverde offers a different setting; for a larger garden swim, choose Palácio Príncipe Real.

Verride pairs an 18-room palace with a panoramic pool looking toward Lisbon roofs and the Tagus. It offers a more urban, elevated outlook than the hidden gardens above. The hotel sits by Santa Catarina, useful for someone whose evenings centre on the west side of the old town and the river-facing streets.

The Santa Catarina Superior category measures 31–46 m² and faces Bica and traditional rooftops. Some of these rooms can connect to another room or suite, a more flexible arrangement for a family or group than assuming every palace room accommodates extras. The hotel's own access notes explain that ride-hail vehicles may stop about 200 metres short of the door because of street restrictions; traditional taxis have different access.

Choose Verride when you want a small historic property, a panoramic pool and a room with a documented city outlook. Choose a connecting setup only when the reservation confirms the exact pairing. For a street-to-door arrival with wheeled luggage, account for that last stretch or arrange a suitable taxi.

Palácio Ramalhete extends this selection west of the most commonly recommended central hills. The small urban palace has 18 individually designed rooms and suites, outdoor patios and a pool. This is a different choice from an Avenida base: the building and a quieter Janelas Verdes setting carry more of the stay than a skyline panorama.

The hotel identifies a Garden Suite as part of the building's older fabric, but publishes no consistently comparable size for every room category in the material checked here. Select the actual named room by its layout and outlook rather than expecting all 18 to match a single photo. The hotel site presents the pool as part of the on-site stay; an accommodation listing also identifies it as an outdoor pool.

Choose Ramalhete for a small palace atmosphere and a west-side base near the Janelas Verdes area. It is less convenient than Alfama for repeatedly walking back to the cathedral and old lanes. That can be an advantage if you prefer returning to a calmer quarter and using transit or a taxi for cross-city days.
